American Dual Baccalaureate
The diploma that broadens academic and personal horizons.

The American Dual Baccalaureate is an international programme that complements the national curriculum and enables students to simultaneously obtain the Spanish Bachillerato and the American High School Diploma. Integrated within Vallemar’s educational vision, the programme introduces an international academic dimension without altering the core structure of national studies.
Students take specific American curriculum subjects online, progressively developing competencies related to autonomy, planning, English communication, and digital learning environments. The programme’s structure allows both qualifications to be completed through an international credit recognition system, with students only completing the subjects required to obtain the American High School Diploma.
The programme can be started from Year 8 of Secondary Education (2º ESO) through to Baccalaureate and will be implemented at Vallemar International School from the 2026–2027 academic year.

Students enrolled in the Dual Baccalaureate take subjects from the U.S. education system through an international academic platform, working in a digital environment similar to the one they will later encounter in international university contexts.
The programme subjects are primarily focused on developing academic English, understanding the sociocultural context of the United States, and strengthening cross-curricular competencies. These include subjects such as English, U.S. History, U.S. Government, Economics, and various Electives, all designed to enhance communication, analytical thinking, research skills, and learner autonomy.
The programme methodology is based on a flexible and progressive structure, allowing each student to organise part of their weekly workload independently, with continuous academic monitoring and teacher support. This model fosters responsibility, time management skills, and adaptability to digital learning environments, integrating a learning dynamic that closely mirrors international university settings.
In addition to the linguistic component, the programme provides a global educational experience that enables students to operate in multicultural academic contexts, broaden their international perspective, and strengthen competencies increasingly valued for university admission and professional environments worldwide.
How does it work?
Maximum subject recognition
Diploma Dual® students only need to complete 6 subjects to obtain the American qualification. The international agreements established by Academica and the academic excellence of the programme allow for the highest possible level of credit recognition: 75% of the 24 credits required to obtain the American High School Diploma.
Of these 6 subjects, 4 are core curriculum subjects and 2 are electives. This allows students to take subjects of particular interest that are not part of the European curriculum, adding an extra level of motivation and expanding their vocabulary in areas they would not normally study in English, such as Digital Photography, Criminology, Psychology, and others.
